World No Tobacco Day
The world over, May 31st is observed as World No Tobacco Day, to remind people how harmful tobacco and our Indian product, gutka, is.
To spread awareness about the ill-effects of these products, CPAA promotes a number of activities on this day. Free oral cancer check-up camps and free awareness talks are held. An inter-school anti-tobacco poster/slogan competition is organized with trophies for the winner. In 1999, several establishments in Pune committed themselves to providing a "smokefree atmosphere". These establishments either completely disallowed smoking on their premises or segregated smokers.
